Brendan O'Brien

English-speaking teacher of cycle 3

Brendan grew up in the UK and studied History at St Mary's University College, London.

After completing his undergraduate studies, he spent time travelling through South

America. It was there that he found his passion for the Spanish language and was inspired to

move to Madrid in order to improve his language skills. Brendan worked as an English

teacher in the Spanish capital, teaching both children and adults. This experience inspired

him to return to the UK and commence teacher training through the School Direct

programme.

Brendan was rewarded his Postgraduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher

Status by Goldsmiths, University of London. As part of his studies, Brendan carried out

research on teaching through dialogic method and gender roles in the classroom. He

recognises the crucial role educational research and theory plays in good, effective teaching.

Over the past two years, Brendan has taught at a diverse, inner-London primary school. He

has enjoyed teaching innovative lessons with interactive learning experiences at their heart.

As a new member of the team at Lab School, Brendan is excited to share his passion for

teaching and learning with the children of the school. He is dedicated to ensuring all

children have the high quality learning experiences they deserve.

When not working, Brendan can be found playing the guitar, cooking in the kitchen, running

or reading a good book!
